Numbers

I've got a lot of numbers in my life, and some of them are whats making me consider taking new directions.

2 & 1 - I used to have type 2 diabetes. Now I have type 1 diabetes.

337- That's my current weight. I've added 40 pounds since I went on insulin

42- That's how old I am

80- That's the number of units I take in my ' basal dose' of insulin each morning

22-40 - that's the number of units of fast acting insulin I inject before or immediately following each meal

3- That's the number of pills I take a day- Metformin for my diabetes, simvastatin for my cholesterol and zestril for my BP.

Taken one at a time, I never really gave them any thought though they became a part of my life every day. Looking at them all together- well that's making me think that I need to find the motivation to make some significant changes in my lifestyle

Michael Stanley All Over Again

"Gov. Deval Patrick’s top budget aide said yesterday that the state is facing a “serious deficit” in the next budget year and that tax increases may be needed to close a shortfall expected to hit at least $500 million.
Administration and Finance Secretary Leslie Kirwan, who will file a new state budget in January, indicated that the state’s financial condition remains dire and that deep cost cuts or new taxes will be needed to balance the books in fiscal year 2009." -
Boston Herald- October 18, 2007

I seem to recall a little phrase being bandied around while all of the Devaliens were sitting in a big circle, hands firmly wrapped around their manhood chanting ' Together We Can". It was that once Governor Rodney Allen Rippey gets elected that the citizens of our fair state would be " taxed back into the stone age". Is that a brontosaurus I see lumbering on the horizon?

Anyone with half the sense of a golf ball knew this was on the way. But they voted for him anyway. I can't recall any time in my 4 decades on this planet a time when there was more hand wringing and hats held out needing money. The T, roads & bridges, of course the children and now the state budget.

Here's my advice to Governor do-nothing. Go with the deep cuts option.

I'm tired of dumb people

I'm tired of dumb people. It seems to me that there are just more and more dumb people front and center every day. I don't need to get into the whole Star Simpson thing again. You all know what she did. If you don't, read this. http://www.boston.com/news/globe/ideas/brainiac/2007/09/boston_cracks_d.html

So, it seems dumb begets dumb. I don't think there's really any other explanation for what she did except that she's dumb. Dumb enough to be getting banged by a guy twice her age. Obviously her hippie parents ( I'm sure they struggled with other names like, Twinkle, or Light or.. oh man the colors...)

But here's where I validate my point. The following are excerpts from the Boston Herald comments on Howie Carrs and Peter Gelzinis' columns. (Please note that as a rule I don't like Gelzenis and his screaming liberalism) . Now do I need to remind anyone that she walked into one of the busiest airport terminals in the nation from which planes were hijacked on 9-11? The idiocy of some is overwhelming. A common thread I see are comments like "Its just a circuit board" and " She didn't have a hoax device, just Play - Do and a circuit board", and the feeling that the cops who had drawn down on her should have somehow known that, and known that. My return question would be , How would they know that? Are they psychic? They were acting in the best interest of all, not to protect the feelings of some nappy headed ho.

It has come to this. The government has to validate its existence by forcefully arresting kids with light-up toys and Play-Doh. What's next, I wonder. Them join Alec Baldwin & Sean Penn and move to some other country where our freedom to even contemplate this question doesn't exist.

I think the people of Boston need to stop being so paranoid... all it's done is kill 27,936 Iraqi's and 3797 US citizens. Why is this pinko putting Iraqi's first?

The Knights that Say Nikh should be called in immediately to save the citizens of Boston from such dangerous threats!!! After all, she had play-dough and ignored an adult who may have been wearing a uniform! I think this one speaks for itself.

Shame on you Peter Gelzinis! Your article would have been much more useful if you had shown what idiots they have at the Logan airport, whether the employee who panicked about this, or the state police who didn't just laugh the whole thing off. Aren't you glad the London Police didn't laugh off the nerve gas scare. Maybe the same ones you want to laugh it off did so on 9-11 and look what we got ass face. The "circuit board" (which your paper apparently decided to bury the picture of, since it is obviously not a bomb but a breadboard with LED's arranged in a "star" pattern -- I love when nerds get technical and expect the rest of us to stay with them. That's why they're nerds. the woman's name was Star), looked less like a bomb than a common laptop computer (which at least has room for explosives), perfectly fit her description as "art", and the reaction of the police (stating that they nearly shot her) shows them to be a group of scared rabbits. At a minimum, they owe her an apology, if not offering up their resignations as well for their incompetence. Dolt

So, where am I wrong here? How can we expect to protect our population if people like these won't let us? Should we go back to our pre 9-11 lassez faire attitude? I think that's impossible, don't you? Should we put our police and Public Safety employees in harms way by mandating that they meander up to a potential threat , and blithely converse with them? I can see it now... Excuse me miss, is that an explosive device you're wearing? Oh it is? Can I have a few seconds to run away?

Of course, should half of the terminal blown up, then what would the response be?

Viva Las Massachusetts

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/city_region/breaking_news/2007/09/under_patrick_p.html

Deval Patrick has given the high sign to the State signifying his thumbs up to casino gambling. Much like everything he does, I expect that this will be much bluster and hot air before anything of consequence comes of it. Already DeMasi is condemning the idea and the anti-casino lobby is rolling up to shoot it down.

I'm not opposed to casinos. I think in moderation, a casino or two in Massachusetts would be a nice bump to the revenue stream. God know we need it.

But its not a cure all. Its not going to improve my quality of life. We seem to be so deep in the hole, that any revenues realized will simply be keeping us afloat.

20 Billion in transportation cost mismanagement is what the past quarter century have brought us. Fattened pensions, corruption and patronage are to blame. Bridges are crumbling and roads are falling apart, but toll takers still bring home 60K a year for stealing out of the cash box.

Have you ever seen a help wanted ad looking for toll takers? Ask yourself why.

Governor Gary Coleman certainly generated a lot of false hope with ' together we can' and has yet to deliver on his promises. Is this his answer? Perhaps. Is it a good one? To a point.

The problem I have is that this isn't going to improve my quality of life. The graft , corruption & patronage will continue. This will simply fuel it. A gaming commission? Please. Another nationwide search before the cousin of a state rep or prior state rep gets the gig?

There are other answers. Consolidate Mass Highway and the Turnpike authority. Get rid of the toll takers. Convert the states pension boondoggle into 401(k) plans like the rest of us have. Increase the cost sharing of heath care like we all have to pay. Make state reps & senators on par with the middle class like they were intended. Then they'll understand what we have to go through before they decide they want to pry open our wallets yet again.

Yea its all pie in the sky. None of this will ever happen because my state rep & senator aren't looking out for me. They're looking out for themselves.

But I'm OK with casinos. 4 or 40 - what difference does it make? Its just going to cost me more in the end anyway, like everything else Patrick does.

My Governor the Assh*le

This is from John Keller blog: http://wbztv.com/kellerblog regarding our impotent ,mealy mouthed, rapist loving liberal Governor Deval patrick; The Rodney Allen Rippey of Massachusetts politics and his response to his 9-11 ' tribute' remarks attributing the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington to “the failure of human beings to understand each other and to learn to love each other”. My comments are in bold and the morons aren't.

"Refusing to offer even a cursory apology to those offended by them. From the State House News Service account of the governor’s appearance today on WTKK’s Eagan and Braude Show:“Patrick sounded exasperated with the insistence of some callers in returning to his speech (read: How dare they question the great & powerful OZ!) Tuesday, which state Republican Party Chairman Peter Torkildsen ripped Wednesday. Near the top of the hour, the show's producers played an audio version of Patrick's remarks, and Braude asked him if he wanted to apologize. Patrick declined. (He hasn't been wrong yet, has he? Why should he apologize? For those of you who read the last page of a mystery first, just scoot to the bottom of the article)

He called efforts to "gin up political controversy" over his words "sad." Patrick said, "First of all, I think I was clear,(if it was clear, why are regular Joe's asking you to apologize you putz?) and I think the condemnation of the attacks on all of us is universal. (No Deval- only you feel this way) Certainly, I feel it. It was vicious. It was unjustified. And I think that any other interpretation of what I said is simply wrong." He added, "We are, I think, in this country historically a beacon of hope for people all over the world and for people to see us as other than that is a part, in my view, of a failure of human understanding and frankly( he's like Wallace Shawn in the Princess Pride- he uses that word too much.) I was taught in my church that all violent attack is a failure of human understanding." ( This means that he wasn't thinking for himself but he blames his church. Nice - standard democratic ploy. Jesus made me do it!) Later, a caller identified as Tracy told Patrick, "I am surprised that you did not take the opportunity to apologize for your statements on 9/11." Patrick replied, "I was there, I know what I said, and I was clear as possible in condemning the attacks." Another caller, Mary Ann, told Patrick, "I wonder why you're such an ineffective communicator with your remarks on 9/11." When she followed up with a more insistent question about the impression she said Patrick had left about wanting to sing "Kumbaya," and asked him to "please explain," Patrick replied flatly, "No." ( There's that arrogance again) Later, returning to his office after the radio show, Patrick was asked whose reaction caused the other reaction. He replied, "Conservatives," ( That means the people who don't want to free racists, get taxed up the ass because of your incompetence, want to protect children by not changing CORI laws, want illegal immigration to be illegal, and want the laws enforced) before being interrupted by visitors to his office.”

This is from the Herald's critique of the moron's interview http://bostonherald.com/news/regional/politics/view.bg?articleid=1031384

He later told another critical caller: “If you or anyone else heard me to say anything other than a total condemnation of terrorist attacks on 9/11 and since on the United States or on Americans, you are hearing something other than what I intend, and I am sorry for that ( I thought you weren't going to apologize you dolt) .”

So what did we learn here that we don't already know. Nothing except my puke bucket only holds a gallon and every time I listen to this disingenuous piece of flotsam, I keep thinking I need a bigger one.

No, seriously Britney....

Are you kidding me? Here's where I just don't get it. Britney Spears is just another in a long line of vacuous hot chicks with computer enhanced voices able to gyrate me to an erection. Its that simple. There have been hundreds and hundreds more are on the way. They exist in strip clubs, the local mall, McDonalds, both cable & broadcast TV... you name it.

Is she so special that she deserves the scrutiny shes getting? Hello?? Paris Hilton ???

Seriously. I Think I'm one of millions of men who would tap her even though she ' let herself go'. She's still better looking than lots of broads. I'd fire it right in there.

Do I care if she can sing? No. Do I care if she can dance? No. is she a role model for me? No , but of she is for you, you need help. Is she launching rockets or curing cancer? No. Does she have nice boobies and a decent ass and can I picture her doing things to me that are illegal in 7 states? Yea Baby!! That's all I need from her. If she's got any other outstanding qualifications to share the planet with me, I missed them. Come on guys... tell me you wouldn't hit this? Get real. And if not her, there's another one coming down the pike in a few minutes... gee I hope Giselle looses the baby weight... or Rhianna let me under her um - ba - rella, ella , ella , ella, hey hey.... Oh lord I'm slaying myself.....

Coffee Shower

This morning, after a horrendous commute, I got out of the truck and put my coffee cup on top of the roof so I could reach into the passenger seat and grab my briefcase.

Well, it seems the slant of the roof was too much for this styrofoamic receptacle. It tipped over at the exact second my back was under it and I was the recipient of a hot coffee shower. The tragedy of this embarrassing incident is its not lawsuit worthy. I am a victim of my own stupidity.

What a shitty way to start my Monday.

Love & Chicken

I love my wife dearly. I always have. But after 15 years of marriage there are some things that should be innate in her knowledge. For instance, I know for a fact that at least 2 times a week I will find one of those little paper maxi pad strips in the bed. It will happen. I know it will happen and I have geared my reaction to it over the years as to not make it the huge issue I made it the first 600 times it happens.

That's what love and marriage are all about. Understanding each other and knowing what or how the other will react.

Anyway, last night I called the Mrs at home and asked what was for dinner. Chicken, I was told. Great I thought and that was that.

So I go home and look in the oven. What do I see? Hot wings. They're for our son, 12 years old and experiencing a cornucopia of new likes in the food category. Great. I'm very excited that my boy is moving out of the Mac & Cheese and Grilled Cheese sandwich phase. Eating chicken wings - protein- not bad for him, OK.

But where was my dinner? We've been married 15 years, dated for 5 and not once in those 2 decades has she ever seen me eat anything hot or spicy as a meal. Yes, I've tried stuff, but my reaction is a sweaty miserable complaining one, so as a result, I won't eat spicy or hot food. I don't even like yellow mustard.

I believed I had been the victim of the Bait & Switch. I was told one thing and I got another. I had been hosed.

Was I wrong to be upset? No. Look, my wife's not shackled to the stove. She works & brings up the kids, blah blah blah. But, when she says she's putting the meal on the table, that's what I'm expecting. Her cooking skills are the topic of another post someday.

So I ask the Queen, what are we having? She looks at me like I just crawled out of the primordial ooze, and then replies- Tuna Sandwiches.

Now, you tell me. If you're told you're getting a nice chicken dinner, then come home and get a cold Tuna Sandwich, how would you react?

Oh, by the way - I asked for onions in the tuna and was told no f'in way.

So, I was pissed. Deservedly so, I believed. Wouldn't you be?

After a few barbs about my hosing I was told pretty much to F off. And that's OK. Because I love my wife and know it was in jest and it relates to the first part of my post. And tonight I'm making myself some chicken, because my wife's going to her part time job that she took to keep us living in the style in which we've become accustomed. So in the big picture, tuna ain't so bad.

I just would have liked non spicy chicken, like I was promised.

Paris Hilton - Not!!!

I could rail on about this travesty for pages & pages. I could. But I have something more important on my mind this Friday.

Denny's.

My town needs one. In the town I live in, there just isn't a good breakfast place. Now let me define good breakfast place. I think Friendlys is a good breakfast place. Someplace I can get a lot of breakfast for a little money.

Now critics of this statement will come out with ' Yes, but you sacrifice quality!'. Lets think about that.

What do they make sausages out of? And forget scrapple? How do you screw up eggs, or bacon? I don't need gourmet coffee, just acrid caffeine laden liquid flavored with those little cups of creamer and sugar. Toast? Please. There's no way to screw that up unless you burn it.

And there you have it- your quality argument resolved

I miss a good hearty inexpensive breakfast on a Sunday morning. That's why my town needs a Denny's

How much is too much?

I don't think an answer for this question exists in the state of Massachusetts. But before I address that I want to ask, " How Much Do You Have?".

That's the question I think is being asked on Beacon Hill and within the Patrick Administration every day. At the MBTA, at the Turnpike Authority, I don't think that there's a Massachusetts Government agency that doesn't have their greedy eyes on my wallet.

The Turnpike Authority not only wants to raise tolls, but it looks like theirs no end in sight for toll collections. He wants to raise the cost of driving the pike during peak hours. The Massachusetts Turnpike. The project that was paid for 20 years ago. The second sucking wound of the state ( the Big Dig being the first).

Don't worry about patronage jobs, overpaid toll takers, escalating pension and health costs and the associated abuse that goes with them! Keep padding the payroll with do nothing jobs, and don't take advantage of the efficiencies that would be realized by merging with the Highway Department. Keep your Board, your stable of hacks and just let it all ride on the taxpayer.

How much do you have? Because the state wants it all. There's no hiding it. Governor Rodney Allen Rippey, the naked emperor, wants to give away 6 billion in programs like free tuition ( yea, that'll pay of for the overinflated salaries of state college professors and administrators) and his radio blitz of doing business in the state would probable be better served playing OUT OF STATE. The Big Dig may not be in the paper, but the bills still due. State Highways are falling apart, and legislators kids, cousins, friends and wives still need state jobs.

The tragedy here is nothing can stop this. A few years ago when I'd listen to the whackadoos call Jerry Williams and tirade 'Revolution" I laughed at them. But now I wonder. Does the switch out of one corrupt hack for another in a ' protest vote' really effect any change?

I'm back, baby

I took a small hiatus from my blog. But, as Bender says, "I'm back baby!"

My, my what can happen in a few months. I'm going to spare you, if you're fortunate enough to find my tiny contribution to the WWW my ramblings on the gay marriage amendment, Mitt Romney, the bumblings of the Senior Murderer from my State to Washington Ted Kennedy , and a plethora of other things.

So, I'm back. More to come, believe me.

I'm the victim

I don't care for Don Imus. I've listened to him in the past and will admit that when I've changed the dial I was a bit better informed than I was when I first tuned in. Some of his bits were funny years ago ( my favorite was the Wilford Brimley Turkey Stuffing bit) but I don't see him as the radio powerhouse that I guess he is or used to be. he was good for killing about 6 minutes in traffic.

But the persecution of Imus kind of baffles me. In the simplest of terms, I don't see that he did anything worse than other DJ's have done, or rappers , or comedians or TV shows. I can site countless instances where not only black people, but people of pretty much all races have taken it on the chin. Look at SNL or Mad TV. Look at the atrociously racist stuff that Chris Rock spews. Look at UPN when it was around (Homeboys in Outer Space??? )

Spike Lee is perhaps one of the biggest racists I know. Why doesn't anyone come down on Carlos Mencia? George Lopez consistently bashes white people against Mexicans and he's on a top 20 TV show. Can I sue him too?

I know how ridiculous this is going to sound, but I'm going to say it anyway. In this melting pot of cultures that we live in, who's offended when the white guy gets insulted? Can I be indignant every time it happens. Can I complain every time Chris Rock decides he wants to belt out "I hate white people!" Didn't Richard Pryor & Eddie Murphy make their bones by joking about how the white man kept them down?

Well, I'm not that white man, the same way the Rutgers basketball team aren't nappy headed hoes.

Are there nappy headed hoes out there? You bet there are. In fact, they've obviously made more of an impression on people than the attractive well coifs educated virgin young ladies.

Well, now every time someone insults the white man, i should have a right to retain legal counsel. I should be able to demand they are fired. I should be able to get a group of other middle class middle aged somewhat portly follicle challenged white guts together and demand restitution.

I have to think there's a TV lawyer who would take this on a contingency basis. Imagine what I can make from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson....

7 Days & 7 Nights

I decided I would take a week off.

After all, how much trouble could the Rodney Allen Rippey of Massachusetts politics get into in a week? He must be pretty much petered out by now, right?

Man, I'm glad i didn't put any money on that one. What a week. And as someone who did not drink the kool aid what a fun week it was.

Yea, I did sign up for devalpatrick.com. Strictly for the entertainment value alone I would have paid money. Whats new and groundbreaking there? A messageboard that's abused like any other messageboard, the Deval Patrick Handjob that's on the welcome page and the gross violation of privacy that was the clusterfuck of the first few days. I laughed so hard my sides still hurt.

I love the disclaimer: The views expressed by users of MyIssue.DevalPatrick.com do not necessarily represent the views of Deval Patrick, the Deval Patrick Committee or anyone else other than the person responsible for posting them.Way to distance yourself Gov. How about pulling a Curt Shilling and blogging too? You've got time while you're at your wifes bedside, right?

"The Governor keeps track of the efforts of everyone who uses MyIssue.DevalPatrick.com and will often comment on issues generating solid amounts of support.
He may even take action himself, help you take action, or get others to help. " I was wondering how the Commonwealth Corps was coming along.

Sure- and Santa will be coming down the Chimney on Xmas eve. If this guy's got 1/2 a brain, which I doubt, the back peddling should start soon.

What ever happened to that by the way? Is Diane Patrick miraculously healed? Maybe she is. Deval should post it on his website. That would make us all feel good.

Civic Engagement? Please. The lesson learned about civic engagement in this state is that it doesn't happen. There's wishful thinking mind you. That's what all the Devaliens think is civic engagement as they hold hands, sing kum-ba- ya and hope that the fraud they voted into office will make the sweeping changes he promised. But civic engagement went out the window in this state when scumbag Tom Finnerian torpedoed the rollback of the 'temporary sales tax'.

Then there's the 'hitch up your pants' joke. Oh god I'm laughing again. I'm gonna go down to Blue Hill Ave Friday nite and start spreading those words of wisdom. Saturday morning I'll be blogging from Mass General. Of course we all know the most effective way to get those naughty gangbangers to stop filling each other full of lead is to scold them. Harshly. Maybe they'll break into song and dance like the Sharks & Jets. What a boob.

I should take another week off. The comedy aspect of last week alone was worth it.

The True Test of My Paitience

Contrary to popular belief, my career is not being an angry conservative. I have a pretty good job in a great profession and I work for a good company, so in actuality, I have a lot to be happy about. Of course keeping all these things in Massachusetts is a difficult task, but because it's so beautiful out and because my desk is essentially empty, and because I've deigned today screw around Friday, I'm not going to let my surliness get the better of me today.

BUT.... Mrs Big Bish hit me last night with a beauty... she wants to move. Now my initial thought was " Away from me?". But that wasn't it. She wants a new house. A little smaller more manageable one. In the same town, probably just down the street but a new house nonetheless.

I kind of took a shine to this. My current house is pretty big but pretty old and even the simplest tasks become a project. 2 weeks ago I needed to replace a .38 cent washer in my master bathroom sink and today I have exposed wire & plumbing, a gaping hole in the wall, no toilet and a cavernous hole in the bathroom floor. Thank God I can o it myself. Its costing me about 1200.00 but I know I'd be mauled if I needed to contract it out.

Anyway, now with this and the advent of spring, its time to get going on the projects I've ignored all winter. After I finish the bathroom, its down to the basement to finish some 1/2 done rooms. Then to the dining room for new floors. Then the kitchen for the same.

Then we wait. We watch the market, wait for buyers and then start looking for a new abode. Then I have to move. I hate moving. I have made it to the point in my life that moving no longer constitutes my ratty furniture, and can be accomplished by me , some friends and a few cases of beer. I'm gonna need to hire someone.

We went to Orlando last year. Me my kids & wife. Did the theme parks, planned on Expedia, did the car hotels everything separately. Saved a ton of $$. But it was a test of planning. Anyone who's done it knows that its a lot of planning, then execution when you get there. Not gonna spend a huge wad of cash for the vacation of a lifetime just to go to a Denny's 15 states away.

My point is that this will test my planning acumen again. And the housing market will test my patience. And house shopping will test my blood pressure.

Are You Insane Byron Rushing???!!!!

http://news.bostonherald.com/localPolitics/view.bg?articleid=189841

This is an article about Byron Rushing's attempt to make Massachusetts more of an illegal immigrant free for all than it already is. Essentially, as the hand wringing of the woebegone continues on Beacon Hill in the wake of the perfectly legal New Bedford ICE raid, Rushing , who was obviously dropped on his head as a child from a great distance has decided to get some face time by dusting off his annual attempt to clog our already overtaxed welfare, legal, housing and aid systems with an influx of illegals. You know, the people that don't come to Massachusetts for drivers licences ( and by extension every other freebie we offer) but for jobs.

Good move putz. Not only will you add to our already overtaxed system, how will you pay for it? If social services are being cut, and you plan to allow a bunch of illegals to dump themselves into the system, where's the money coming from to support them? Their anchor babies? Their houses full of unemployed preggos?

I don't swear all that much in my blog. But you sir are truly an asshole. A big brown puckered simpering sucking off the public trough asshole.

What are you thinking? I need to understand. Why do you want to make me responsible for these additional burdens? Don't I pay enough? Do you have any fiscal education at all, or do you think pixies show up at the Treasury and sprinkle pixie dust that turns into currency for you to spend?

Asshole.

Monday, March 19, 2007

Honest to God I sometimes think I just don't want to lambaste Deval Patrick anymore. That its just too easy.

There used to be a kid I grew up with. You'll know the type when I describe him. He was in your circle of friends and he was the abuse taker. For the most part it was good natured, but he was the one that everyone picked on. In my day his name was Lally ( first name withheld to protect the innocent).

Anyway, Lally never got it into his head not to hang around with us. He'd show up places and just take a ration of shit. About him, his clothes, his mother, his smarts... you name it and he got shit about it. It got to the point when one of us went to the men's room we would say " Gotta go take a Lally".

It was just too easy with Lally. He just kept coming back for more. Just like Deval.

Here's his latest interview with the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/17/AR2007031701005.html

In it , the Post pretty much makes him look like a Lally. They speak of his potential and the hope he held for Massachusetts voters.

Then they pull the rug out from under him. They quote members of his own party like Barney Frank saying about his call to Ameriquest : "That was a mistake in judgment, not just cosmetics" - nice - way to support a fellow Dem, Barney.

And yet, even through the beating he takes - and there are some nice ones landed like about the caddy: "The move might have caused minor grumbling, but critics saw it as just another decision of a series in his brief tenure that embraced the very political elitism he ran against during his campaign" his arrogance shines through. That pandering insipid habit of his to " call a flap trivial, dismiss it for a few days and then apologize after criticism escalated."

I thought John Kerry & Ted Kennedy were doing just fine making us look like a bunch of boobs. And here comes Deval.

Oil Up the Old Revolving Door

Looks like the old Michael Stanley Dukakis days are truly back. Free Em All Deval is gonna take control of the Parole Board :(http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/03/16/governor_to_replace_3_on_parole_board_when_terms_end/)

Screw caddy Gate, Screw the Drapes, Screw Amy Gorin ( ewwwwwww). This is potentially the most destructive action that the Rodney Allen Rippey of Massachusetts politics can do.

I can see the hemp heads over in Cambridge and Brookline now rubbing their semi employed hands together. Welcome back Willie Horton.

My disgust for the possibilities here prevent me from my standard multi paragraph rant. I will say this though - Ben Leguere gets out and I will personally lead the charge up the state house steps with pitchforks and torches and burn it to the ground.

I Told You So

Well Well Well, it looks like the Patrick administration has it tail between its legs again. Eileen MacNamara of the Globe is reporting that ICE DID INDEED BRIEF THE PATRICK ADMINISTRATION ON THE NEW BEDFORD RAID MONTHS AGO (http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2007/03/14/a_lapse_in_planning/)

In my prior post about the raid, I stated that knowing Massachusetts like I do, that the fault lies somewhere here, and not with the feds. Shocker of shockers, looky here: ( I paraphrase the important stuff)

"Federal immigration agents first briefed senior members of the incoming Patrick administration about plans to raid a Massachusetts sweatshop that employed undocumented workers last December"

"Patrick himself was told in February that the raid would target the defense contractor that was using a largely undocumented female workforce to make safety vests for US soldiers in Iraq. Commissioner Harry Spence of the Massachusetts Department of Social Services was told a raid was coming several days before it occurred. The night before the sweep, Bruce Foucart, the ICE agent in charge of the operation, spoke with Spence to coordinate law enforcement and child protection aspects of the raid"

" As late as yesterday afternoon Nancy Fernandez Mills, communications director for the Patrick administration, was insisting that "the governor was not told and did not know the raid was happening until it was going on" and that "DSS did not know about this raid until it was in progress."
Told that, in fact, members of Patrick's Cabinet had briefed him about the operation weeks ago and that Spence had participated in a conference call with ICE the day before the raid -- a fact the commissioner himself acknowledged in yesterday's newspapers -- she reconsidered: "I'd like to retract that statement until I talk to someone who actually knows something about this timeline."

This is laughable. Harry Spence needs to be canned. Kerry, Kennedy and every other hack sucking from the public trough that started breast beating about this will do what they always do- put their head in the sand and ignore it. Typical Massachusetts hack reaction. No one will call them on it.

I don't give a rats ass about Dianne Patrick. Deval needs to answer for this. Get up, get moving and roll a goddamn head you putz. Spence needs to be fired.

Governor you are a joke. You obvioulsy can't find your ass with both hands and a map, and it looks like your administration suffers from the same problem. You had no problem getting in front of the cameras to blame ICE for your misconceptions, you should have the guts to get in front of it and apologize YET AGAIN for your lack of follow up.

But you won't. You've got plenty to hide behind and since you're only working part time, where will you find a spare moment.

Its my hope that this continues to be in the Boston media spotlight and they don't let up. Illegals are a giant issue in this state and humanitarian issues aside, need to understand the law is the law and you have consequences for your actions.

Governor, you should be ashamed of yourself yet again.

Please please please give us another one of those patented apologies. Its been a long day and I need a laugh.

Little Ditty 'bout Deval & Dianne......

Its no secret I don't like Deval Patrick.

I think he's a con man and an empty suit. I think he's like the Music Man. He came into town telling everyone that there was trouble in River City and he was going to clean it up. He won his election with empty promises and sound bites and governs the same way. He conned 56 percent of the voting public ( and lets not forget that's the VOTING public, not the general population) with his 'grassroots ' campaign ; the rank & file who he has forgotten but key members get cushy jobs in quid pro quo's (notice the use of the plural) that he deigned would not happen. He is out of touch with the common man in Massachusetts, makes bad decisions and I don't think he really cares what anyone thinks.

Now his wife is 'depressed' and he's going to be a part time Governor.

I've listened to the people that state that this is a scam and he's using it to divert attention from his screw ups. Sure, I can see him in a Dr Smith like pose, holding his wife in front of him like young Will Robinson to hold off the citizenry expecting him to fulfill his obligations.

I've listened to the people supporting her. Margery Eagan caterwauling about how difficult depression is and the bloggers commenting on how difficult it is to be depressed and how hard it is to function and how many pills they need to take to get through the day.

And the bottom line is I could care less. Deval's not depressed, his wife is. Guess what? Life goes on.

Deval's not depressed, his wife is. How many people in society have depressed spouses and carry on because they have to? People who have mortgages to pay and kids and families to support? People who work full time at Stop & Shop and then go to a second job because its impossible to support themselves on that wage? People who still take their kids to Cub Scouts and baseball & soccer? Life pauses so you can adjust then moves on at the same or a faster pace.

Too bad if this sounds heartless. I don't have time to be a crybaby about some woman who's wasting 72K a year of my money. I'm busy trying to maintain a lifestyle that residing in Massachusetts gets harder and harder to do.

The people hired this numb nuts to do a job. I didn't vote for him, but he's the Gov. God bless Democracy. So far he's been doing it poorly. If I hired a contractor to come into my home and he performed as poorly as Deval did I'd can him. No 'honeymoon period'; goodbye, I'll get someone else.

I started a new job in October. If I screwed up in 9 weeks like he has, guess what? Goodbye. I didn't get a honeymoon period. No one will stand up for me and say , " Oh lets give him a chance.". Together We Can. Hell no. In fairyland, where people like Deval have a grand vision that may happen but in the real world where people get their pay at the and of the week and are grateful for what they have and pray every Sunday in church that it doesn't go away, it don't happen.

Go to work Deval. I know being a part of the greatest scam in the state - the state funded health care system - your wife is in good hands. I doubt that she has a shortage of sycophants fawning over her, so she probably won't miss you as you go about the job you were hired to do- Run the Commonwealth. Tell her to take her pill and get your ass back to work.

Enough with the ballyhooing about Diane Patrick. She's not the Governor. I don't care about Kitty Dukakis, I don't care about Betty Ford, I care about me. My Kids. My family. My Mortgage. Find a way to stimulate the economy. Lower my property taxes like you promised you would. Don't raise taxes. Find a way to make 26BILLION dollars enough to run the hackarama and stop adding to it.

Together we can my ass. Get back to work and fix this.

New Bedford Raid & Deval's Response

As a father, I can't imagine the fear it would instill if I was taken away and not given the opportunity to make sure that my children were well cared for. They're the most important things in my life and like any good parent, there's nothing I wouldn't do to assure their safety and security. Its that part of me that feels sorry for the parents & children affected in the New Bedford raid.

But as a citizen of the greatest country in the world, I know that these issues will be assuaged. That the ICE agents that are dealing with the crisis as well as the Federal Government will be sure that families get reunited, and in short order. As of yesterday 60 people were released after being identified as primary caregivers. They have been ordered to return to Immigration Court. I wonder how many actually will? THAT would be an interesting follow up article.

And how does the Rodney Allan Rippey of Massachusetts politics come down on this? Well he seems to be placing himself squarely in the sights of the Federal Government. As the antagonist. Now this may perk up some of the Devaliens who have been down in the dumps after PhoneGate. Kind of like how Tom Brady diverted attentions from CaddyGate & DrapeGate. Patrick needs the diversion. Unfortunately it will be short lived, since an Ethics Commission investigation is forthcoming.

The Governor speaks like the Feds just flew in, swept up the illegals and flew out. I'm finding that hard to buy. And based upon the response by Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Julie Myers each detainee was asked about their children and response was commensurate to the answer.

My bottom line is this: No child was left in the middle of the street crying as illegal daddy or mommy was tossed in a van and taken away. Within hours infants needs were addressed, as were the needs of other children.

These people put themselves in jeopardy by breaking the law. They get what they deserve. I personally think that their children should be deported with them.

But warm & fuzzy Deval challenges the feds illustrating them akin to Storm troopers. "There were stories of humiliation, fear, anxiety, uncertainty" nice touching sound bite Deval. But immigration officials insist they coordinated with state social service agencies in advance. Where's the disconnect ? Based upon what I know about Massachusetts bureaucracy, its here.

Inside the head of greatness

Deval Betrayal? Is It Fair 4 Me to Judge?

I'm not a Spike Lee fan. In the late 80's I saw the movie ' Do the Right Thing' and what I took away from it was that Mookie had no right to demand that Dany Aiello put ANY pictures of the bothers on the walls. And that Spike Lee was perhaps the biggest reverse racist on the planet. I have never viewed a Spike Lee Joint since.

Its not that I don't understand or sympathize with issues faced by African Americans, especially in urban areas. Or the underlying torrents of hatred against them that bubble so close to the surface in some places that it instills a permanent fear.

But my historical associations with African Americans has been fortunate enough to be as equals. I've never struggled in an urban area. I've never been afraid to be on the Red Line at 10:00 at night. I've never been a victim of random violence or urban unrest. I've never been forced to live somewhere I could afford versus somewhere i want to. I've never been turned down anything because of the color of my skin.

The purpose of today's entry isn't to paint a lily white picture of myself in comparison to African Americans ( I paused for a full 3 minutes here debating if I should use the word Blacks). I read the following article posted by D.R. Tucker on http://www.devalpatrickwatch.com/ http://www.devalpatrickwatch.com/archives/2007/03/do_the_right_th.php

As I read it I rolled my eyes into my head to say ' ugh.. another black vs white thing... like the Amistad bible...Why can't he just be the Governor, not the Black Governor?'

How disappointed must the community that viewed this guy as a hopeful in solidifying their continued social progress be? As a middle aged white mail, I'm just pissed off because 1) I voted for Muffy , 2) I'm a flaming conservative, 3) I'm tired of getting screwed by Massachusetts politicians.

But this is far worse. This is , as D.R. Tucker states a betrayal. Would I be going too far to state its a betrayal like George Bush betrayed me? That he placed the progress of my party back 15 years. That his betrayal lends credence to wafflers and political leeches like Ted Kennedy & John Kerry. Perhaps, but I think this would be a betrayal on a grander scale.

Party Progress is one thing. Racial progress is another.

Where are the black leaders on this guy? Who's standing up to say Deval is a disappointment? Is the silence a commentary?

I don't know. I'm a white, middle class, middle aged suburbanite. I would in the Financial Services field, truly white collar. That's not to say I'm ignorant. Just not exposed. I can only relate my feelings. I say I can only imagine the Black Community's disappointment, but I really can't. Only hope that their leaders, and the Governor of my state can stay in accord while working towards the best interests of all?

Deval- Ohh I'm Sorry I Screwed Up - Again

I've been married a while. It ain't easy. I screw up and I admit as much to the Mrs and next thing you know, there I am apologizing. It happens.

But here's the thing. I learn my lesson. I try not to screw up twice. Let me rephrase that. I try not to get caught the second time.

Now here comes Deval Patrick- Man of the People - The Rodney Allan Rippey of Massachusetts politics. And guess what- He screwed up again. And he's sorry. (http://news.bostonherald.com/localPolitics/view.bg?articleid=186849)

I love those big doe eyes and the tail between his legs stance that he takes each time he screws up. He's like a little puppy... who can't forgive him... aww come on lets let this one slide.

Not this time. I ain't buying this mea culpa for a second. He's written his last check on his charm- an account he's emptying out pretty quickly.

The conflict of interest of this issue blazes like the sun. I keep hearing how smart this putz is then he keeps pulling boneheaded plays like this. Where are the smarts I'm hearing so much about. At this point, I truly think the guy that did my taxes at H&R Block could be the Gov. since he can look at a debit & credit then balance a checkbook.

Every time i turn around, I hear about the Guv starting a committee, connecting dots, I gotta look at that , my advisers and I poured over the budget, blah blah blah. Point is, this guy doesn't wipe his ass without appointing an advisor or commission and then he pulls this boner. No, not buying for a second that he wasn't counting on the political pull as the Governor of Massachusetts to be behind him when he picked up the phone. No way, no how, start the recall vote because this is another abuse of his power.

The Band Plays On

This morning I read a piece in the Boston herald that continues to solidify the fact that Deval Patrick has no clue whats politically important in these times and that whatever undereducated advisers he has are in the same position.

Today's Boston Herald has reported that the Secretary of veterans Affairs has been removed from the Governors Cabinet. (http://news.bostonherald.com/localPolitics/view.bg?articleid=186656).

So here's my point on this: What does having the veterans Secretary in the cabinet hurt? Is he making sweeping legislative change? Is he filling in for the Governor when he's travelling? No. So why disrespect veterans and soldiers in a time of national crisis in the middle of a care giving scandal at military hospitals?

I fail to understand why this man continues to alienate his constituency. How many soldiers or military families voted for him because of his democratic message of change. How many of us are war-weary and want our troops home? And how long have the Democrats been espousing that message.

And as a slap in the face to all of us, he pulls this stunt. I'm still waiting for all the good stuff. When's that coming? My property tax relief. My kids not having to pay 300.00 for extracurricular activities. Massachusetts becoming a more business friendly state. Extra cops on the street, better schools, more transparent management of state agencies... hows that no quid pro quo working out? So far, no good.

Did I mention I don't want to get taxed back into the stone age?

The Shamrock Shake

Its hard to be angry all the time. While living in Massachusetts as a conservative helps, sometimes I need a WTF day.

Todays one of those days. Don't get me wrong. I'm still pissed about that felonious pantload Tom Finnerian being on my favorite talk station and not in prison, and I'm still throwing up in my mouth every time I hear Deval Patrick doing something else to tax us back into the stone age ( I want to bring this phrase back. It never got its due during the election) .

But its Monday and my brain is a torrent of work related struggles and not fully up to speed from the weekend. Then I learned something that just knocked me on my ass....

Did you know that the Shamrock Shake is not promoted nationally by McDonalds anymore? Remember every year, the Green Grimace would come waddling out of the clover with a frosty rich thick booger green Shamrock Shake - available for a limited time only? Well no more. Its like a piece of my childhood has died. Just like when I found out Peter Brady was 40 and boning model Adrienne Curry. Of course the adult part of me dug it. But I was sad that the Peter Brady I remember was gone.

And so has gone the Shamrock Shake. Goodbye. Goodbye HR Puffinstuff, Starblazers, Gilligans Island, Major Mudd , Creature Double Feature and SuperFriends.

What ever happened to the McRib?

Scumbag Finnerians Alien Brother?

Seperated at Birth? Disgraced scumbag lying pantload felon Tom Finnerian and another HUGE foreheaded freak??

Seperated at Birth? Disgraced scumbag lying pantload felon Tom Finnerian and another HUGE foreheaded Star Trek Alien?

Another Reason Tom Finnerian is a Scumbag

Buried deep in the Sunday Herald this week was this little blurb about hack turned felon turned radio host but remains a felon ;scumbag Tom Finnerian:

And speaking of pensions, disgraced former House Speaker-turned-morning radio jock Tom Finneran isn’t going quietly without his retirement check

While King Tom humbly accepted much of his “punishment” for misleading a federal grand jury, he’s moved for a hearing on the state Pension Board’s denial of his $2,575-a-month check. The board, which has pulled the pensions of convicted felons in the past, withheld Finneran’s check last month and will hold a hearing in the coming months.

I question the use of the term radio jock based upon his questionable talents or lack thereof.

The hypocrisy here is deafening. On the day after Gov Rodney Allen Ripney releases his proposed budget ( cutting a lot of services, breaking a lot of campaign promises yet increasing his own office budget - but that's another blog entry) the Felon decides that hes going to ruminate on whats wrong in the budget and the state of the state in general. While I only listened for the duration of 20 minutes, I listened to the disgraced speaker with the dwindling ratings rant on I was thinking one of the most glaring expenses we as taxpayers are burdened with is paying the bloated pensions of suckbags like Tom Finnerian.

That a huge contributor to the problem is making a truckload of money to tell us whats wrong in this state should be humiliating. I felt dirty listening to him as I often do. That this same abuser of my hard earned dollars had the brass balls to bow his head and cry like an infant about his crimes, then take full responsibility for his wrongdoings on the radio pretending to be a man then slink back with little or no fanfare to try to screw the citizenry again is sickening.

I missed this on some of the blogs I read and occasionally participate in. I heard Howie Carr make a small mention of this last week which was what prompted my search for it in the news. Almost nothing was there.

Are we so desensitized to abuse that we just don't care anymore? I listen to jackasses like Jim Braude who wave away amounts like 72,000.00 and 46,000.00 with the wave of the hand as the cost of doing business in Massachusetts. When does that cost get to be too much?

I listen to the argument that those who go into public service 9 or public abuse as the case is here) forgo the opportunity to make more money in the private sector. Tough. Go back to the private sector. Get out of my wallet.

Obviously Tom Finnerian has no shame. No decency. No sense of right or wrong as his crybaby act after his sentencing and his mea culpa on the radio were machinations of false apology. It is my hope that the state pension board continues to do the right thing and withhold all of his pension checks. He doesn't deserve a penny. I hope he ends up sleeping in a Whirlpool box once RKO lets him go.

The Continued Decline of WRKO

This morning I read the disturbing news that the potential exists for Marjorie Claprood (D-Hell) to return to the airwaves. Save WRKO (http://www.savewrko.com/) is reporting that its no secret that Ruth Buzzi Claprood was in extended meetings there. I'm sure she and Jason Wolfe, Julie Kahn's personal version of the Travelocity Roving Gnome, weren't discussing their favorite shoe styles.

The return of this screechy harridan to talk radio would further contribute to WRKO's dreadful slide past mediocrity into ... well I can't quite find the word. Appaling, disgusting, grotesque...you pick.

This washed up retread of liberal trash would be the second biggest mistake WRKO could make. The first being the unlistenable Felon.

I had the displeasure of listening to her when she dirtied the Claprood & Whitley Show. Then she did a weekend stint once in a while. Then she subbed for Scott Allen Miller recently during the Gay Union Constitutional Convention. During that time she made the idiotic distinction that anyone opposed to gay unions was a bigot. That's right, a bigot. No wiggle room. You're right up there with the KKK if you don't believe in gay unions.

A woman called her on it stating that her stance on gay unions was her opinion and that in no way was she a bigot. Cancer Throat Claprood then spent 5 minutes berating her telling her she needs to wake up, she is a bigot and then hung up on her.

Is this what Boston Radio needs? A political retread, who we all thought and hoped had ridden off into the sunset resurrected to make WRKO even more unlistenable.

Save WRKO brought up the point of "Why are we bringing these retreads back? " and its a good one. Conservative listeners hold their stations accountable, even if they're spewing liberal diarrhea. Callers will offer thier opinions if they disagree, but someone needs to be listening to the host to begin with. As Todd Fienburg waffles to whichever way the wind is blowing, people care less and less about what his opinion means as he's pbraceted by hosts that tow the company line. Someday someone will realize that Soylent Green is people. But as long as you pepper the lineup with hosts that spew the check signers liberal political agenda, I have no desire to even listen much less call.

Hows Finnerian's show doing? From the blogosphere it seems that his listenership isn't what was expected. And his show itself is unlistenable. The uhhhs and dead air and boring subjects it seems aren't attracting the listeners WRKO thought they would get. No surprise there. Weak co-hosts and just bad programming are not a formula for success. Carry this over to potentially hiring another washed up hack, and how long can this boat float before they realize that's water rising around thier ankles? Claprood would be the second iceberg floating towards the Titanic thet is WRKO now.

Stop your begging Deval- Its unbecoming

Stop it Deval. Just stop.

I just had the displeasure of reading your podcast. My suggestion for your new one is to include more substance and less begging. Stop begging the media to get off your back. Stop begging the citizens to embrace your new tax plan. Stop begging the legislature to follow you into the black hole that you're about to make my state by taxing businesses enough that they'll want to pack up and leave.

You talk about stabilizing our economy in your podcast, and obviously the way you think you can accomplish that is on everyone else's back. You're wrong. You talk about the property tax relief rider you have attached to your municipal options bill. It only helps a small population and comes at the cost or raising taxes for businesses in my town. You talk about towns cutting costs by utilizing services used by the state for pensions & healthcare. You could at least give credit to Kerry Healy for stealing her idea.

I can't help but notice that your ugly habit of throwing others under the bus to distract readers & listeners continues in your podcast. This is a nice way to distance yourself from the problems that you need to deal with, and more importantly promised to deal with. North Andover can't afford teachers because of fat bloated pension and fixed costs and the diversion of state funds that they deserved going to pork, fat, patronage and the lack of a stimulated economy. You're going to work on that, right. lets reach for that.

Don't personalize everyone elses pain by pulling that trick of using peoples names and problems. That's cheap and shallow and a transparent way to manipulate people.

I make a good living. I don't have anything new or flashy but I'm not house, car , credit card , HELOC poor. I have a house and 2 respectable cars. But not a lot of disposable income. And guess what Governor Rodney Allen Ripney. My property taxes go up too. It hurts in my wallet. A 200.00 a month increase that got assessed to me this year hurts. And you're ignoring me in your relief bill. That's wrong. And it torques me off. How many people in the 35K a year range are actually going to benefit from your idiotic relief plan? THEY COULD NEVER AFFORD A HOUSE TO BEGIN WITH. And do you think its easy to do it at 70K? No its not. But I don't have a mansion in Milton, a vacation home in the Berkshires and a mansion in Atlanta. I don't have an interior decorator. My wife makes due at Wal-mart and when somethings on sale. I got my furniture at Bobs Discount Furniture. And I make what would be a good wage anywhere else but a living wage in this state.

I'm bringing back a phrase. I can already see the resurrection of 'Taxachusetts'. I remember this one from your campaign and how much you detested it: Taxed back to the Stone Age. Its coming back DeVille. Keep it up.

Devalpatrick - I Really Screwed Up

Really DeVille?

How magnanimous of you to admit that. Do you think its going to get you any slack cut? Maybe by your kool aid drinking minions who are frothing at the mouth for patronage jobs like Momma Devals private secretary ; those same people you conned into voting for you and vaulting you to the Governorship?

You make me laugh. You think that in one breath you can apologize for your embarrassing screw ups (please note the s indicating that your screwing up occurs on multiple occasions) and in the same breath convince the watchdogs of Boston media to become your lapdogs in delivering your message of screwing over both the citizenry and businesses of an already floundering state. Sure, I'm sure they'll jump aboard your bandwagon to deliver the message of belt tightening and program cutting and outright screwing you plan to offer us all in your tax packages.

What else do you have waiting in the wings next week Deval? maybe you can announce the pension amount for your wife's new Secretary. You know she'll be ponying up to suck off of the public teat just like the rest of them. Thanks to you, YES SHE CAN.

Unfortunately, the picture you paint of yourself does not fill my confidence cup to the brim. I know the Acolytes of Deval have moistened their pants in your apology. What a humble man. What a good man. See, he's not afraid to admit when he's wrong. But they're blinded to your arrogance in defending yourself each time you screw up. They don't see your angry eyes, or when you try to deflect the question by saying how many more important things you're working on or when you want to throw someone under the bus like the State Police or when you just outright lie.

Why don't t hey see that? You know what dots should be connected? The ones from where you're an outright liar, to no one being sorely mistaken by your quid pro qou's you've handed out, to how you ARE going to tax us back to the stone age, to how you're eventually going to decimate this state.

You've already left your footprint DeVille. Just because you apologize, doesn't mean we shouldn't be expected to be disappointed in you again. I don't think you learned your lesson. Not at all. I think that you think you're better than the people who put you where you are. I think you don't want to give anyone a straight answer . I think all your critics were right and that now your true colors - oh please forgive me that's not a racial slur- are coming out. At my expense.

How Deval Patrick Destroyed Massachusetts

In looking at the Rodney Allen Ripney of Massachusetts politics plans to ' close tax loopholes' to decrease the budget deficit in Massachusetts, I can't help but be reminded of the Taxachusetts stereotype that we never quite lived down.

I remember Gov Gary Coleman ruminating on and on about how we need to make Massachusetts a friendlier place to do business so we can stimulate economic growth and keep businesses here as well as the right employees to do the jobs.

Clutching crayon in hand, Patrick has panicked. And the knee jerk reactions have been taxes. Taxes at the local level with the options taxes and taxes ) regardless of what you call them) by 'closing loopholes' on businesses.

Has this dolt learned nothing from the Fidelity issues that are occurring. Maybe if you're secure in your job or part of a union that protects your ability to earn a living wage, whats going on with Fidelity isn't a blip on your radar.

Now me, I use Fidelity as a vendor for my job and I actually still work in one of their biggest money making and thus revenue generating ventures. So I watch them. And I've read about Fidelity's exodus from Massachusetts. Its happened already, jobs left the state to Kentucky, Rhode island ( how insulting is that) New Hampshire and now Texas. The operative phrases in these announcements? That these states have offered Fidelity 'generous tax incentives' to bring Fido's business to their states.

I can't blame Fidelity for taking the hook. Wouldn't you? If you were offered the option of driving to RI to buy a car for 7000.00 or stay in MA and pay 12,000.00 where would you go? Its that simple.

Yet our ignoramus governor seems to be blind to these simple truths. He's not trying to make Massachusetts more friendly to business from the biggest to the smallest. The local options taxes will drive business down. If I can eat in a 99 one town over and not have to pay the tax that my town has opted to impose, how will the 99 in my town fare? Small business screwed. The greenhouse emissions fees he signed into law week 3? Would I pay to retrofit my factory or pull up stakes? Depends on the cost, but I ain't happy about writing a check to the state. And how do those penalties get funded? Passed on to the consumer. The citizen just got screwed. And finally this ludicrous crap load about 'closing loopholes'. Way to go moron. How hard is it going to be for a company who does business in multiple states to just relocate to one of them? In my professional career I've changed offices dozens of times. If the business doesn't actually manufacture something in this state and their offices are administrative, its simple to pull up stakes & take off.

Everyone expected you to take the hard stances on making my home state a better place to live. Don't tell me that you're taking a hard stance by taking the cowards way out and raising taxes. With a 25 billion dollar budget, you can't tell me you can't make it work.
